Vanity or enrichment?

Photography is not a vanity, it is life changing…

“I am not interesting”
“I cannot put my portraits on the wall”
“I am not beautiful enough”
“I am not photogenic”

Who knows why we often say these words to each other, even though almost all of us, deep in our hearts, know that the opposite is true.

Are we afraid to put ourselves out there? Because that is. To be a protagonist in a photograph is to put yourself out there and step out of your comfort zone.

Every time we put ourselves in front of the camera (and I’m not talking about selfies) we are changing our lives. Because every time-if we wish-we can discover new things about ourselves, and if you know something new about yourself your perspective changes.

That moment when we are where we would not like to be, our boundaries or limits are pushed a little further. This small gesture is already a great enrichment.

The encounter with ourselves, as seen from the heart and eye of another, that of the photographer is a great step toward awareness.

Our lives will change in that instant, because we will have learned something new about ourselves, intangible to others.
